The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested two shooters who were demanding extortion from a textile businessman after an encounter. Accused shooters Amir alias Salim alias Tillan and Danish alias Sultan alias Pappu had demanded extortion money of Rs 5 crore from a textile businessman of Tank Road, Karol Bagh in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishroi. When the extortion money was not paid, the accused fired twice at the victim businessman. Both the miscreants were hit by a bullet each in their legs. Two policemen including an inspector narrowly escaped the bullets of the miscreants.
Recently, Special Police Commissioner Shalini Singh, who commanded the Crime Branch, had given strict orders to stop firing and smuggling of illegal weapons. Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goyal, the team formed by Inspector Pankaj Malik, Inspector Rohit Kumar, SI Rupesh Baliyan, Havildar Gajendra Singh and constable Dinesh Kumar started keeping an eye on the miscreants. The team came to know that to extort money from Karol Bagh businessman Hassan, nine rounds were fired at his house in Yamuna Vihar. After this the accused opened fire in Jagatpuri.
Additional Police Commissioner Sanjay Bhatia said that after this information, Inspector Pankaj Malik’s team laid siege on the road passing through the forest area of Garhi Mendu, Yamuna Khadar on the night of 21 and 22 February, 2024. The police signaled the two shooters, Aamir alias Salim alias Tillan (30), resident of New Seelampur, and Danish alias Sultan alias Pappu (26), resident of Welcome, who came there on a scooter without number plate, to stop near the Forest Office, Garhi Mendu, New Osmanpur. When he did, both the miscreants started firing.
A bullet hit Havildar Gajendra Singh in the chest, but he survived because he was wearing a bullet proof jacket. Inspector Rohit Kumar narrowly escaped being hit by another bullet. In retaliation, Havildar Gajendra Singh and constable Dinesh Kumar opened fire. Both the attackers were injured by bullets in their legs. Both the miscreants have been admitted to the hospital. Police have recovered 2 modern pistols, 9 cartridges and 2 shells from their possession.

During the interrogation of Salim, important information has been obtained about organized crime networks and their functioning. He was involved in a case of robbery and attempt to murder in Welcome area in 2016. In this case the punishment was 7-8 months. During the period 2016-2017, he formed an alliance with notorious bookie Nitin alias Susu Jain, who has been living in Dubai for the last few years. Ameer is lured into illegal activities by Susu Jain’s promise of financial assistance and introduction of him to notorious criminals Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba. Under the instructions of Susu Jain, he opened fire at the textile businessman’s house in Yamuna Vihar.
